Micaella identifies as a Filipina American immigrant. She sees her move to Los Angeles with her family during the late 90s as the provenance of her current research interests and queries. She aims to explore and design courses that focus on the literatures of undocumented immigrants and marginalized female voices to help deconstruct and unlearn stigmas and roles that are at times deep-rooted.
