Oceanic ethnic studies, Asian settler colonialism and social determinants of health


Kathleen Corpuz is a Filipina settler who grew up in Kalihi. She is pursuing a concurrent degree in Asian American Studies and Community Health Sciences. She is interested in understanding social determinants of health – how colonization, discrimination and poverty can impact the health of various ethnic groups. She aims to conduct community based research projects among underrepresented groups in the Pacific to develop strategies for communicating effective health messages.
