DESCRIPTION:Ananya Roy\, M.C.P.\, Ph.D.\, is professor of urban planning\, social welfare and geography and director of the Institute of Inequality and Democracy at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. Dr. Roy participates in the broad-based endeavor to remake the canon of urban studies and planning. Her interventions in critical urban theory foreground urbanisms of the global South and draw on the legacies of postcolonial\, feminist and critical race theory. In addition\, Dr. Roy is one of several scholars seeking to build what can be called critical poverty studies.

Sender One has a straightforward mission—to create wondrous spaces where people can discover themselves and connect with others…through climbing. \n\nPrior to joining the climbing industry\, Alice had a successful career as an international sales and marketing executive for four separate toy companies and\, prior to that\, as an investment banker.  She discovered climbing in 2008 while living and selling toys in London.  Climbing guided her through tough personal times and sparked her closest friendships. \n\nAlice graduated from UCLA in 2001 with a degree in International Economics. \nAlice has been a member of Entrepreneurs’ Organization since 2014\, serving on its board for three years. She resides in Torrance\, CA with Wes and their two daughters\, Sydney and Adelaide. \n \n\nThe event will be moderated by Todd Presner. Dawn was a UCLA Asian American Studies MA 1997 and History BA 1994 alumna. She was a Professor at San Francisco State University in the History Department. All graduate and undergraduate students and organizations\, alumni\, faculty and staff impacted by Dawn are invited to join. We also invite the public at large\, especially family\, friends\, and colleagues who would like to pay their respects to her life and work.\nA tribute will take place on January 26 in Ackerman Ballroom where food and drinks will be served. DESCRIPTION:An evening of two performances that explore women’s lives: Tiffany Lytle Qnoum Kaun Khmer/I am a Cambodia Child and Joy Alpuerto Ritter’s Babae. Drawing movement and musical influences from contemporary dance\, hip hop fusion\, pop music\, jazz\, and Southeast Asian folk and traditional dance performance and stories\, Lytle and Ritter both dynamically present Southeast Asian women in the diaspora in their solo pieces. \nAs the child of a Cambodian refugee raised in multiple worlds that make up Cambodiatown of Long Beach/San Pedro\, Tiffany Lytle sonically explores refugee experiences and Cambodian diasporic lives in Qnoum Kaun Khmer/I am a Cambodian Child. With a team of Los Angeles’ best pop/jazz musicians\, Lytle’s musical performance reimagines pop music as an expression of displacement that is the defining state of living for so many around the world at this time. \nJoy Alpuerto-Ritter was born in Los Angeles\, and raised in Berlin\, Germany. SUMMARY:Fall Cleaning? Donate to the Gender Gap Clothing Drive
DESCRIPTION:The UCLA Gender Gap Clothing Drive is an initiative to provide gender-affirming clothing to our students\, particularly those who may not have the means to purchase clothing reflective of their gender identity/expression. Gender-affirming professional clothing is also a large concern for transgender and gender-nonconforming students as they begin to apply for internships and full-time positions. \n  \nI invite you to support our students by donating any clothing items in good condition\, particularly professional attire. Following the drive we will be hosting a clothing exchange where trans\, non-binary\, and gender-nonconforming students can select clothing that matches their identities. This will happen from November 12th to November 14th. \n  \nWe are collecting donations from November 5th-November 9th  at the LGBT Campus Resource Center. Please consider taking a few moments over the weekend to peruse your closets and help us in supporting students. \n  \nThank you for your continued support of trans\, non-binary\, and gender-nonconforming students.

The purpose of Summit is to provide a safe space for honest dialogue among young Pilipinos from throughout the world. \n  \nThis year\, the San Diego chapter will be collaborating with USD’s Filipino Ugnayan Student Organization (FUSO) in presenting this year’s Summit.
