SUMMARY:Painted Nails Documentary
DESCRIPTION:The California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative’s mission is to improve the health\, safety and rights of the nail and beauty care workforce to achieve a healthier\, more sustainable and just industry. \nI would like to use this opportunity to invite you to attend a film screening we have put together of the documentary Painted Nails\, which tells the story of  a Vietnamese immigrant nail salon owner\, realizing her health problems are due to the chemicals used in her salon. In addition to the film screening\, we will have The California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative’s director\, Lisa Fu\, and Preeti Sharma from UCLA’s Gender Studies Department come and give a talk about the impacts of having safe working conditions and proper knowledge of chemicals that people come in contact with on the daily in relation to the nail salon industry. \n  \nThe event will be held on Wednesday\, May 22nd\, from 6-8pm at Dodd 146.
