TUTORING OPPORTUNITY: Want to get paid to do one of the most REWARDING JOBS on campus? The Undergraduate Writing Center seeks outstanding candidates from any major to serve as composition peer learning facilitators (PLFs) during Summer 2019 (Session A and/or C) AND Academic Year 2019-2020. This is a paid position.
PLFs help their peers
with academic writing in one-on-one tutorial sessions. They may also be asked to help develop tutoring materials, make classroom visits, represent the Writing Center at various functions, conduct occasional workshops, and undertake other special projects.
To apply to be a Peer
Learning Facilitator, a candidate must have satisfied the Writing I requirement and have a strong GPA (a minimum of 3.5 cumulative GPA is preferred). We apologize, but we will NOT consider recent graduates or 4th year students who are graduating in Spring 2019.
PLFs must be willing to attend training sessions, must be mature, responsible and professional, and must possess excellent writing, interpersonal, and oral communication skills. Although prior work in tutoring, mentoring or other teaching/learning settings is beneficial, it is not required when applying to become a PLF.
